Dr. Marcelo Hochman is a bilingual, double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and the founder of The Facial Surgery Center and Hochman Private Practice Advisory (HPPA) in Charleston, South Carolina. After training at premier medical institutions and serving for more than a decade in academic medicine, he built a nationally respected independent facial plastic surgery practice, where he has cared for patients for more than 30 years.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hochman has earned national and international recognition for treating children with complex vascular anomalies, much of it provided pro bono. He has also been honored for both his humanitarian service and his contributions to medicine, receiving South Carolina's highest civilian award and recognition from his professional societies.
Today, Dr. Hochman's work extends well beyond the operating room. As a physician leader, speaker, writer, and advocate for independent medicine, he has served as President of the Independent Doctors of South Carolina and President of the Charleston County Medical Society. He also serves on the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners. Through his advisory practice, he helps physicians build sustainable independent practices while advancing thoughtful healthcare policy, speaking nationally, and championing a healthcare system that preserves physician autonomy, strengthens the doctor-patient relationship, and puts patients first. His mission is to ensure that independent medicine remains not only viable but vital for future generations.
When he is not caring for patients or advocating for the future of medicine, Dr. Hochman enjoys traveling with his wife, pranking his three adult sons, and unwinding on the porch with a cigar and cocktail at the end of the week.
