Dr. Dawn Tartaglione was the first female Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine to become a board-certified neurosurgeon. She has enjoyed positively impacting patients' lives by performing neurosurgical brain and spine surgeries while practicing in Michigan, Delaware, and Oklahoma. From her first biology lab job at Truman State University, performing brain and liver surgeries on rats and mice, to her 25th year performing neurosurgery on her precious patients, she has enjoyed the intellectual pursuit of surgery and the camaraderie of her medical colleagues.
The opportunity to serve as President of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons has given her great joy. She has been fortunate to be able to give back to medical students and residents through her presidency and continued leadership in the American Osteopathic Foundation, providing scholarships to the next generation of medical professionals.
Her patients have brought her great joy, and their stories make up a huge part of her life. Educating and guiding patients through difficult illnesses over many years is what motivates her now to share her experiences and stories with everyone.
